Interlibrary Loan (ILL) access to items from other libraries.
Requests are made through ILLiad, the personalized online ILL account system. After your initial registration is complete, use ILLiad to request books and articles. ILLiad also allows you to track the status of your requests and cancel requests.
ILL requests may also be made directly through most research databases such as WorldCat,
CSA Metadex, and Compendex. Follow the HuskyFetch
menu options and select "Get Item from another Library via
ILLiad." Please be sure to check the JRVP Library holdings before
submitting a request directly from a database.
Locating Books & Periodicals
Books are located on the Third Floor in the Main Collection, shelved by Library of Congress call number.
Periodicals are shelved by Library of Congress call number in these locations:
CURRENT JOURNALS (1st Floor): Recent issues kept here until bound or reissued in microfilm/fiche.
SERIALS COLLECTION (Garden Level): Bound periodicals.
MICROFORMS AREA (2nd Floor): Microfilm & Microfiche cabinets located on west side of 2nd floor.
E-Journals: The Library subscribes to an increasing number of journals which provide electronic versions of their publications online. Access them through the Librarys web page.
Reference Collection - 2nd Floor
The Reference Collection is a good place to collect background information on an issue or start your research. The collection is arranged by subject, using the Library of Congress Classification System (LCCS) call numbers. An outline of the system is available at http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/lcco/lcco.html.

Contains records of materials owned by the MTU Library.
Two search interfaces, Basic and Keyword allow the user to search for items by author, title, subject, call number, ISBN/ISSN, or keyword(s.) Catalog records include bibliographic and location information for items retrieved in your search. Use the Location, Status, Call Number information to find an item in the Library collections.

To find citations to recent articles from journals, conference proceedings, and other publications, go to the Librarys web page and select E-Resources & E-Alerts. The resulting screen offers four search options for finding databases or electronic journals: (1) Keyword search of database titles and/or descriptions, (2) E-Resources A-Z to browse an alphabetical list by title (3) Search by Subject Headings, (4) Search by Provider.

Scope: premier source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. With extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects.
Business and Company Resource Center
Scope: a comprehensive research tool that offers dynamic, accurate, and up-to-date topical business information and company and industry intelligence on thousands of global companies.
Business and Management Practices
Scope: provides information on business and management issues such as decision making; implementing new technology; planning for the future; dealing with internal and external issues; and expanding business. Covers business methodology with emphasis on case studies and practical applications. Approximately 60% of the records include full text.
Scope: provides access to full-text articles from newspapers, city business magazines, and wire services in the United States and Canada. An essential business information tool for monitoring the latest trends in industry, health, environmental issues, education and much more.
Business Organizations, Agencies, and Publications Directory
Scope: a unique guide to international business information sources. Lists contact names, address, phone, and fax numbers, and a description of the organizations founding, membership, activities, and sources.
Scope: often the first source that librarians recommend when researchers are seeking original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. Noted for its in-depth, unbiased coverage of health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy.
Disclosure Corporate Snapshots
Scope: provides brief information on approximately 11,000 U.S. companies filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Includes address, cross references, telephone numbers, ticker symbol, Fortune and Forbes numbers, SIC Codes, and a short business description.
Scope: includes citations, with abstracts, from more than 600 economics journals as well as books, dissertations, and working papers. Corresponding print sources are: Journal of Economic Literature, Index of Economic Articles, and Cambridge University Press Abstracts of Working Papers in Economics.
EDGAR: SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)
Scope: an automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Its primary purpose is to increase the efficiency and fairness of the securities market for the benefit of investors, corporations, and the economy by accelerating the receipt, acceptance, dissemination, and analysis of time-sensitive corporate information filed with the agency.
Scope: from arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology, this database meets research needs across all academic disciplines. Provides access to scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers.
Scope: analyze company performance and activity, industry events and trends as well as the latest in management, economics and politics. Access to a combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text and images available.
JSTOR (Arts & Sciences I & II)
Scope: contains scanned images of over 200 scholarly journals in a variety of academic disciplines covering African, African-American, Anthropology, Archaeology, Asian Studies, Classics, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance, History, Latin American, Literature, Mathematics, Middle Eastern, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Slavic studies, Sociology, and Statistics.
Scope: provides access to a wide range of news, business, legal, and reference information. List of titles, fact book, how to search (tutorials) and more information available.
Management & Organization Studies: A Sage Full-Text Collection
Scope: covers such subjects as: Business & Management, Organizations Studies, Management, Strategic Management and Business Policy, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Development, , Marketing, Analytical Marketing, Sociology, Sociology of Work, Public Policy and Public Administration, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management, Labor Economics, Industrial Relations, Small Business/Entrepreneurship, Organizational Communication and Interpersonal Communication.
Scope: provides information on U.S. Company Data, International Company Data, as well as EDGAR filings. The U.S. Company Data provides a fully searchable database of 15,000 U.S. active and inactive public companies listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges. Each company report incorporates up to the minute news items. The International Company Data provides global public company information on 20,000 active and inactive non-U.S. companies. Subscribers have immediate access to companies representing 95% of the non-U.S. global market capitalization. The EDGAR filings dating back to 1993 and updated daily.
World News Digest (Facts on File)
Scope: concise, comprehensive record of world events since 1940. Looking at a series of related events as they have developed over time, you can find comprehensive information to use as a starting point for research.
