The J. Robert Van Pelt Library provides support for MTU Students and Faculty participating in Distance Education programs. In addition to online access to many of the Library's resources, Distance users also have access to many books and articles through the Library's Distance Delivery service.
2. Who can use Distance Delivery?
Distance Delivery service is available to patrons who are working/studying at least 30 miles from the campus AND are:
Faculty and/or enrolled students of at least one the following Distance Education programs:
Sponsored Educational Programs
Online Learning
Co-op Intern Program
Faculty on Sabbatical
Enrolled Graduate students
Employees of MTRI in Ann Arbor, MI
3. What can and cannot be requested?
Distance Delivery consists of Copy Delivery and Loans.
Copy Delivery:
Copies of articles and papers in the Library's print collections can be delivered to the patron's MTU email account. Fax service is also available. Generally copies are not mailed, but exceptions may be made for special circumstances. All copies become the property of the patron and do not need to be returned to the Library.
Due to copyright restrictions we cannot copy entire issues of journals, proceedings, standards, etc.

Loans:
Materials from the Library's circulating collections with a loan period of at least five weeks may be borrowed. Fragile items may be excluded from this service at the Library's discretion. Materials will be shipped by USPS. The patron is responsible for return shipping of borrowed items.
Loan period: The lending period will be based on the patrons status. Please see Circulation Loan Policies page.
Lost materials: The patron is responsible for borrowed material including return shipping. Purchasing insurance for return shipping is recommended.
Log into your ILLiad account or use the HuskyFetch icon in your research database to request an item.
Be sure to put DISTANCE DELIVERY in the Notes field of your requests. Failure to indicate DISTANCE DELIVERY on the form may result in your request being cancelled.
