Research Services

The Archives expects individuals to visit the Archives in person to access resource material. Although staff are available to assist researchers in understanding the collections and planning a research visit, we are unable to conduct research for mail, telephone or e-mail requests.

In the event that a researcher is unable to visit the Archives personally, they may wish to contact a local researcher to undertake specific historical research projects.

Local Researchers For Hire
(updated December 19, 2007)

The following researchers are available for detailed research in the MTU Archives collections, as well as other historical resource material in the local area. These are researchers who have given direct permission to have their names distributed in this manner; additional researchers may be available through other agencies and are not restricted from using material held by the MTU Archives. Individuals seeking the services of a hired researcher should contact researchers directly about rates, likely turnaround time, and expected results. This list is distributed as a service to patrons who are unable to conduct their own detailed research in our holdings; these individuals are not affiliated with Michigan Technological University and the MTU Archives bears no responsibility for the quality of their work product.
