Scope and Content Note:
Alpha Phi Omega is a National Service Fraternity founded on December
16,1925 at Lafayette College, Eaton, Pennsylvania. Since that time several
hundred chapters have become active across the United States as well as abroad.
The Michigan Technological University chapter, Epsilon Lambda, became active on
December 12, 1947, and since that time has become a focal point on campus for
Leadership, Service, and Friendship.
The Alpha Phi Omega Collection consists largely of the organization?s
documents, memorabilia, and photographs. This service organization has a long
history at Michigan Technological University serving the campus, community,
nation, and the fraternity. The contents of this collection document the
organization?s activities, how the fraternity has worked, and a history of it?s
members and rituals.
In 1993, Alpha Phi Omega began placing historical records at the Michigan Tech Archives
& Copper Country Historical Collections facility due to the organization?s
lack of a proper storage facility. Additions to the collections are made on a
sporadic basis.
