If you have already accessed library resources via our Citrix server, please feel free to skip these instructions and immediately access the resource from the following resource links or the E-Resources page. For the first time user or if you have questions about accessing these citrix applications, please read these instructions.

These resources require a program to run as a client through your browser or as an application on your desktop. The option you choose will depend on the browser you use, the platform you work on, and whether you have permission to install software on your machine. The table below will help you select your best option. If you have any problems or questions, please call the Reference Desk at 487-2507 or Ask-a-Librarian

  • Active-X Web Client: Use primarily when you can?t install the standalone application on your machine, but can run the program through Internet Explorer browsers. Used primarily for PC machines.
  • JAVA Applet Web Client: Use primarily when you can?t install the standalone application on your machine, and you use Firefox, Safari, Mozilla, Opera, or IE browsers. Can be used on any platform machine.
  • Standalone Application: Use when you have permission to install platform-specific applications on your machine.  Please follow the instruction on the Citrix site to install Citrix Platform-Specific Client.  Since the application will be installed on your machine, no browser is required. Standalone applications will run faster and provide better resolution than either the Active-X or JAVA Applet web clients.
