2006 - 2007 Annual Report

A Note From the University Librarian

Phyllis H. Johnson, University LibrarianIt has been a good year.  Use of the library building and services continues to increase. Everyday we hear students say how much they like the new building.  Their favorite spaces seem to be the small group study rooms and the 24/hour space.

In response to student requests, this year we expanded the use of the 24/hour space to seven days a week from five.  We had approximately 3,400 uses of the space as compared to 2,664 last year when it was limited to five days a week.  We also installed a self-check unit at the bridge door so that students and faculty don't have to go all the way to the first floor to check out a book if they wish to leave via the bridge to Rekhi Hall.  We implemented instant messaging for our "Ask a Librarian" service - be sure to try it.

We invite you to visit us in person or virtually.  For a complete listing of hours and services and to get off to a good start with your research or class project, go to www.lib.mtu.edu.
