Staff Position Opening: University Librarian and Director of the Library

Michigan Technological University invites applications and nominations for the position of University Librarian and Director of the Library. The University seeks an innovative, proven leader committed to the centrality of the library in carrying out the University's teaching and research mission in an active and collaborative learning environment, with a demonstrated understanding of the role of emerging technologies, and with a clear vision of the changing role of academic research libraries in the digital age.

About the Library

The J. R. Van Pelt and Opie Library recently underwent an expansion and renovation of its facility with updated technology throughout. The new construction includes a beautiful two-story Reading Room open 24/7 during semesters, 22 group study rooms, 2 instructional rooms and a digital studio. Flexible space is available for special events and a coffee shop is under construction.

The J.R. Van Pelt and Opie Library has 14 professional staff and 11 support staff with a budget of approximately $4.6 million dollars. The Library includes the University Archives and Copper Country Historical Collection. Participation in the selective Federal Depository program dates back to 1876. The Library's policy is to hire work study students only. Please contact the Financial Aid office for eligibility. On occasion, the Library hires non-work study students for special projects.
